Across the country, people rallied together in acts of civil disobedience protesting of the killing of Michael Brown, police brutality, and racial injustice in America. On the evening of November 24, 2014 peaceful protests turned into riots following the grand jury decision not to indict Darren Wilson the police officer who gunned down Brown. Rocks were thrown at police, businesses in downtown Ferguson were looted – and subsequently set ablaze – by a small fraction of violent protestors. Police officers, donned riot gear, and responded by deploying teargas, utilizing non-lethal munitions, and para-militaristic crowd control tactics, while trying to contain the spread of violence.
